(And a few other random thoughts.)
Folks have been asking me, ‘What’s life like around the Martin household, where do your ideas come from, are you always serious...?”
Here’s a pretty good window into one of the more humorous mornings at our breakfast table.

Video: Survival Stories
Posted in Interviews on Fri, May 14, 2010
A few months ago, I flew to New York and spent some time in front of the camera talking about my latest book, ”The Mountain Between Us”. The creative people at Random House then cut that video into seven segments--leaving the messy parts on the cutting room floor. (Which is good.) Over the next two weeks, (in the run up to the release) we’re releasing a video every few days. There’s some fun stuff in here. Here’s an excerpt of me discussing survival stories. One note: When I sat down, and they turned on that video camera, somebody I never saw before and haven’t seen since, shoved about five pounds of cotton in my mouth. If I appear to have a nervous tick, licking my lips, etc., just know I’m fighting a cotton ball the size of the building behind me. Enjoy.

Some Thoughts on Mountain
Posted in Book Research Interviews on Thu, February 25, 2010
My 7th book, The Mountain Between Us, releases June 1st.
It’s set in the mountains between Salt Lake and Denver but that’s not really the mountain I’m talking about. Most, if not all, of my stories, follow the arc of a character from a real bad place of being broken to a place of not broken. If you ask me ‘what fires me up as a writer,’ it’s that. That arc. From messed up to maybe not so messed up. Why? Because at the other end is hope.
