Always lots of fun.  Come see us.  San Marco is one of the neatest places in Jacksonville (where I grew up) and the weather should be great.

Book Tour 2010 Requests?

73 comments | add yours

I don’t know if this will actually fly with my publicist, but I have an idea…we are in the middle of planning my book tour starting in June and running ‘til whenever.  If you have a suggestion or a request—as to a location, post it here and I’ll forward to my publicist.  At this point, anything’s game.  We have lots of requests from bookstores around the country, but I was wondering what you all thought.

Disclaimer: If I don’t get to your city, don’t blame me.  My publicist makes all destination decisions.  Don’t shoot the messenger.  I know I just threw my publicist under the bus but she’s really cool and she’d like to know what you think, too.  So, any requests please?  (This will be embarrassing if no one responds.)

Aug. 8th, 3-5 pm.  I’ll be signing, talking, and shaking hands at Cyrano’s.  One of my all-time favorite bookstores.  If you’re in the neighborhood, come see us.  Main Street. Can’t miss it.

Jacksonville Release Party

Night before last, we held a release party in Jacksonville for ”Where the River Ends.” We think we had somewhere north of 400 people and I signed around 350 books.  By the end of the night, I’d ask my hand to write something and it would laugh at me.  The result looked like either some ancient script or the doodling of a two year old.  Here are some photos (on Flickr) from the release party.  Notice the canoes.  They’re handmade.  I think they’re incredible.  I’ve never seen anything like them.

To all the folks that came and stood in line, my thanks.  Hope you enjoy the book.

A Christy for Christy

In 1970, a young mother named Alice Douglas read Catherine Marshall’s seminal work, Christy.  Six months later, she named her newborn daughter after the lead in that story.  Twenty-two years later…
