I just finished reading The Mountain Between Us.  [Which~ as an aside~ is no small feat since I have five children eight and under.  I read the last 150 pages this morning and kept saying “Sh!” and handing the kids crackers just so that I could finish. ]

And.  Wow.  You did not disappoint.  I loved it.  You are so good at telling a story- and even those words don’t even seem to do your gift justice.  I am a HUGE fan, and have read all of your books and recommend you to everyone I know.

My hands-down favorite thing about your writing is the way you write about love, marriage and faithfulness.  I am immeasurably blessed to have a husband who loves me the way the characters in your books love their wives.

    Thank you, for writing.

    Excellent job.

Wow, just when I thought your writing couldn’t get better, I received my copy of The Mountain Between Us late yesterday and started to read it early this morning.  Another page turner!  I couldn’t put it down and just finished reading it the same day - loved it - the humor, the love stories, the tension - you create such realistic characters.  It held me right up to the ending - wouldn’t say more for fear of taking anything away from other’s experience in reading and enjoyment of it.

I finished reading “Mountain” today. WOW! Definitely worth the wait.

You’re the most talented writer I’ve ever read. Thank you for not giving up. Thank you for your stories. The world needs them. And you encourage me to keep dreaming, to keep writing.

I’m going to write about your book on my blog, http://kristentorres-toro@blogspot.com on Monday.

Just finished your latest book.  A Mountain Between Us.  Wonderful.  I have read all your books and can’t say which is my favorit although I think maybe it could be Crickets.  Can’t wait for your next book.  Hope it will be soon.

Charles, I have read all of your books and just finished The Mountain Between Us last night.  I could not put it down!  I had to read it right up to the end to put it all together which made it one of the best reads I’ve experienced well, since, Where the River Ends.  You are an amazing writer and by far one of the best storytellers I have encountered. Your writing is lyrical and poingnant.  Thank you for the integrity you put into your writing to bring your readers such wonderful, believable characters and inspiring stories of love and hope.

Outstanding!  Like Kristen, I had also been waiting for your latest book and was on the Amazon pre-sale list.  I have read them all and never cease to be amazed at the research you do on so many different subjects.  “The Mountain Between Us” was absolutely awesome and I couldn’t wait to find someone to share it with.  Yesterday someone asked me about the book because they read a comment by another Sandy Burrus on your website.  I was astounded as I had not written one.  So, she became my first person to share the book with, and my incintive to write in as the second Sandy Burrus!  You have a way with words that I have never seen.  So happy to know that you are already working on another book.  Please don’t stop!!

I loved your book and I think a movie needs to made about it!  I can totally see a movie being made for either the big screen or on the Lifetime or Hallmark network.  The ending was a total surprise, a very good one.  Very sad but with the outcome you really wanted This is the first book of your’s I’ve read, but plan on reading the others.

Thank you SOOO much for a great read!  I had to pick it up since I loved Where The River Ends which was my first Charles Martin book.  There are only a few books that I couldn’t literally put down and it was 2 am when I read the last page last night.  As time passes, even the details of the story get lost but I would always remember the gut feeling I had while “experiencing” the author’s work.  I know I would always remember the time I started to realize the revelation in the end - just gut wrenching.  Irving’s Prayer for Owen Meany is in my short list and this just made it.  I would probably pick up your previous works while I wait for your next one.  Bless your heart for sharing your gift with us and wishing you continued success!

Good article .. Thank you very much
I want to know your point of view in this article

    Scalability and User Interfaces.

A friend of mine was showing me the brand new web based ERP system that

was developed for his medium sized company. He was very happy with its

usability and ease of use. He showed me how you can drag and drop

employees on the organization chart to change their positions. It was

    really easy to use.

But it had one flow, it was not scalable. Usually when we talk about

scalability in our business we mean how an application can be able to

take a larger number of users without changing it. But here was a

slightly different type of scalability, user interface scalability.

Simply put drag and drop works very well for small data sets. When he was

showing me the drag and drop on the org chart there were only a few dozen

people on the org chart. If that org chart was fully populated with

hundreds of people drag and drop would be much harder since you will need

to scroll. Now imagine that you have a thousand employees, not only will

you need to scroll a lot but you will also need to filter or search to

    find the correct person.

There are solutions to make drag and drop scale, like adding filters and

having a two pane screen where you filter in one part of the screen and

then drag and drop to the other part of the screen, but in all such cases

the speed and ease of use of drag and drop is reduced, and more logical

choices for large data sets will be better. One such choice is the right

click and move to menu that is common in many email clients. You right

click on the element you want to move, you select move and then you get a

filterable selection box of where you want to move your element. Of

coarse the issue with right click these days is that you can not

implement it well for the ipad for that you need to read my blog post

about the ipad and its effect on web design.

So what seamed like a good interface will actually be useless once the

number of employees grows or once you start to actually deploy the system

and put your data in it.

At El Motaheda Web we are

well aware of these issues and we choose the systems that we offer you

with care. Most systems we use will work equally well for a small company

as for a large company with thousands of users.

Let us take a small example from WebGUI which is the content management

system we use to power all our web sites and the web sites of our

clients. Although WebGUI has drag and drop within a content page, where

you can re-arrange parts of a page by dragging and dropping, you have a

different interface for rearranging the pages withing a web site. Why,

simply because if generally you will not have more than 10 elements in a

web page, so drag and drop is perfect, but you can have thousands of

pages in a web site and here drag and drop is not really suitable. WebGUI

can handle thousands of pages easily, our site mashy.com has over 50,000

pages and the official portal of the Ahly club ahlyegypt.com nearly as

    many pages as mashy.com.

I have read all of your books and having just finished The Mountain Between Us, I will certainly continue to read them.  This is a great book!  You made me feel that I was in those mountains, experiencing the cold and the hardships(even in Texas in July!) The interaction between the main characters was moving, real, and unforgettable.  You managed to entertain me, inform me, and move me.  Thank you for the best read I’ve had in a long time!
