Talk with Me on Barnes and Noble’s On-Line Bookclub

5 comments | Share

My publisher has teamed up with Barnes and Noble to feature “Where the River Ends” in their general fiction discussion for the month of August.  If books are your thing, and you’d like to ’join the discussion‘ I’ll be dropping in every day or so to try and answer questions or add my two cents.  I’m not quite sure how it all works, but I imagine we can figure it out.

Book fanatics will be very much interested in joining book discussions with you.  I’m so sure this would work out fine.

I have been searching endlessly to locate a sound recording of “When Crickets Cry” for my sight impaired friend.  I’m starting to wonder if one even exist.  I love your work and want to share.

    Dear Mr. Martin,

I had to contact you to tell you how deeply moved I’ve been by your books.  I enjoyed When Crickets Cry, but my favorite so far is Where the River Ends.  To me it is simply amazing that a man of your years has such such a wonderful ability to understand and convey the deepest of emotions.  Your insights into your characters and the way you develop them make me feel as if I know them.  I truly feel as if I have been on the river with them!  I read a great deal....I am a former English teacher and marriage and family counselor so I can truly appreciate your composition and the way you explore the values and morals of your characters.  It is so refreshing to come across a writer who is obviously Christian but gets that point across in a way that is thoughtful and entertaining.  I loved the retired priest in Where the River Ends!  I could go on and on but you get the point....keep on writing and I’ll keep on reading!

There are several other members of my church who told me about your books and I’ll always be grateful to them.  Bless you and your family.

    Sincerely,
    Eve Brown

P.S.  You and your family are practically our neighbors.....we live in Niceville Fl. in the Panhandle!

    Mr. Martin,
I was wondering if maybe we could be related! My father’s name is Charles David Martin who was born in Sevier County in Tennessee. My grandmother’s name was Sally Anne Gibb and was a full-blooded Cherokee Indian.
I am just curious! I’ve read “ When Crickets Cry” and now I’m reading “Chasing Fireflies “and I appreciate your style of writing.
If you know that your ancestors hail from east Tennessee , could you please let me know so that I can add it to my genealogical research.
    Thank you for your time,
    Sincerely, Margaaret
