Of Heroes and Songwriters…

Reflections on writing Where the River Ends ends and how it led to a phone call I made a few weeks ago to a songwriter friend of mine.
I am there. I want to SEE. More of Him.
I believe that all of your books have “heart” in them...which is what makes them so enjoyable to read. It will be exciting to hear the song---if (indeed) Andy is able to capture what you are wanting him to write in a song.
There is a bench in Sacramento that has the following carved on it:
Heartheartheartheart.
I always wonder if it is saying “heart, heart, heart...” or “hear the art, hear the art...”
I like to think it’s one and the same thing. :)
After I listened to you share the story these verses came to my mind and heart
1 Samuel 18:1
And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
1 Samuel 18:3
Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.
1 Samuel 20:17
And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.
1 Samuel 20:16-18 (in Context) 1 Samuel 20
This story deeply touched me. It is amazing how things fall into place. I am walking threw hard places (my artist husband has a brain tumor, we are going to Mayo, we are parenting our grandkids). I know God directs my path and I am so thankful that He led me to this story at precisely the right time.
I too, want to see clearly and live completely present.
Thank you and God bless you!
Words..... I’m searching for the appropriate words to express my feelings after watching this video. First, I don’t know how I missed it, because I read, watch, and listen to everything you post, be it web site, FB, and so on. But I did miss this one, but now I’ve seen, and listened. Mr. Charles, God has provided you with such great talents, not only as an author, but you can reach down in ones soul and bring out feelings that we would like to express, but just don’t know how. I guess that’s where the “heart” comes in . One day I hope to meet you. Maybe one day.
God Bless You and Your Family !
I’m with Glenn...trying to express deep emotions with pitifully inadequate words. Just know that this video of you sharing your heart was intensely powerful. Thank you so much. Your book was remarkable and unforgettable, and your heart passion came through on every page. But the story is now imprinted even more deeply in my soul, since I know what you were personally feeling/longing for as you wrote it. If Andy struggles with the songwriting, I can do it. (I’m a songwriter). I completely understand that longing. The past couple months, I’ve been crying out to Jesus for the eyes to REALLY see, and He actually answered me specifically in each situation I prayed for! He is so incredible. I’ve been astounded, awed, thrilled, and hungry for more!
