Your books just keep getting better and better. The characters are multi-llayered and ring true, and the locales are well-described and interesting. Your descriptions of the deep things of life, like love, hope and living are so well-crafted and thought-provoking. And in this book, in particular, your descriptions of books, and what those words and characters that they contain add to our lives, shine brightly and so lovely in the mind of the reader. Bravo, Charles! (BTW, do not take to heart what Barbara first posted here; I heartily disagree with her. Keep doing what you are doing, and keep growing and deepening. You are truly a writer!)
All of your books have been very absorbing except for this last one, "Unwritten". It reads more as a "travelogue" and was very disappointing to read. Only the last few pages were the "real" Charles Martin. Develop the story and characters rather than describing where you did your research. This is one where I wish I hadn't bought the book.
Beautiful. Loved hearing those words spoken in your voice. With your authority. Even more powerful. Thanks for sharing.
So patiently waiting for Unwritten's release. I like to take my time reading Charles Martin's books. I like to savor every word and the thoughts they draw out; I just don't want the book to end so I purposefully slow down the speed I read to make sure I don't miss anything. The story causes me to stop and think throughout the book too. Reading Charles Martin's books is one of my special places; he is one of the very few authors when I will read his books over and over. I now have my husband hooked on them too. It just may be interesting to see who gets to read it first.
