I am disappointed that your next book will not be published until next year, but I am super excited that you found someone to publish it! It sounds like a great story and I eagerly anticipate reading it. I buy very few “hardback” novels, but I treat myself to your’s! Good luck and God bless!
P.S. It would be really awesome for The Mountain Between Us to be made into a movie - let’s just hope they do it justice! :)
Charles - keep doing the video blog! It’s great for people to actually get to hear you speak about your work. Keep the books coming! And tell your parents I said hello!!
I loved watching the video and I also look forward to seeing any or all of your books made to movies! I just hope you take care of who writes the screenplay and who they choose to act in the movie. So many of us are Christians that enjoy your books and too often Hollywood changes the scripts to fit a purpose other than yours. I would LOVE to have one of your books prior to May of 2012. I have been anxiously awaiting news of a new release! Publishers, please listen to our needs and we won’t disappoint you--we will buy the book! I have fallen in love with your books. I had a heart attack in January of 2009 while teaching 3rd grade. I was rushed to the ER when my husband got to my classroom and passed out just before getting to the ER. They shocked me 13 times before my heart began beating again. While I was recovering, a great friend of mine gave me Wrapped In Rain to read and my love with your words began! I have since read all your books and have also had a triple bypass. I am just 46 but feel so much older at times treasuring each day and each moment I have! Thank you for making many of those moments better and richer!

Charles, I have read all your books and am always touched by your writing. I have actually had some great devotionals which had their beginnings in the pages of your books. Thanks for that! I, too, will eagerly await the release of your book in 2012.
I loved the video blog. I knew from your writing that you would be a nice guy but the blog firmly cemented that in my heart. I feel that I know you from the “thank yous” at the back of your books. I wish my mom had discovered your books before she passed away...you are her kind of writer. I would have enjoyed sitting on the front porch and discussing your books with her over a glass of sweet tea. I am encouraging my college-age daughter to read “Wrapped in Rain” because I think it will give her an insight into some of the troubled youngsters she works with at her job. Sometimes it is hard to relate to a child whose childhood you never experienced. She and her brothers are blessed to have two loving parents and a host of family to love on them too.
Anyway, keep writing what God gives you to say and we will keep reading it. Keep up the video blog, too.

i liked the video a lot. i think you are quite relaxed in front of the camera. my only suggestion would be to figure out where you need to look so it looks like you are looking at the me ... not above the camera’s eye. does that make sense? anyway, i’ve never read one of your books, but I too am a writer in jax of middle grade and young adult novels. i think its quite cool that we have someone as successful as you here. may there be two of us someday! all best, mc

Have read all your books and enjoyed everyone. Sometimes you just need a good story to make you cry and the compassion you put out in your books is incredible. Keep up the good work. Disappointe it will be a whole year for the next one to come out. Enjoyed getting to “know” you on your video!
Loved the video, the personal touch was very nice! Excited about the new book, and like eveyone else, dissappointed that it will not be released until May 2012, but will gladly wait for what I know will be another “NY best seller”!

I am happy to hear a new book is coming out and then my heart fell to hear it was another year away :( BUT I will be here (Good Lord willing ) waiting. Publishing companies need to listen to the readers, the ones buying books. Waiting...........
My wife came running in the living room as I screamed Noooooooo! after hearing it would be another year for the next book. I hate to hear it but very excited to read it cover to cover. The video was great and I think gives us a different aspect into our favorite author. Keep up the good work and write about twenty this year so we can have a stockpile.
Charles; I’ve read all of your published books. I’m not a fast reader, but when I read, the book(s) play as a movie in my mind & I picture the story as it moves along (well, my version of it anyway). I think that “The mountain Between Us” is your best product yet, so I can’t wait to see it becomes a movie (so I can match it against my own mental movie version)! As far as May 2012......man, it’s like putting me in solitary confinement! But, I’ll wait.....for your “stuff” is nothin’ but 1st class, all the way! Keep up the class act you’ve got going! PS; the video is a good way to go!
Just finished reading The Mountain Between Us and love , loved it. Sent it to my daughter to read. Since my son lives in Ponte Vedra , I reconized so many places talked about in the book as I go there every year and love the area. Hope it becomes a movie and cant wait for your next book.
Last year I read “Wrapped in Rain” by the time I finished I was completely hooked. I got on the internet and ordered every book you have written, two of some so I could give them to special friends. Now they’re hooked!
I head up a rather large non-profit organization ( Community Storehouse) in Ridgeway, Va.
We have a thrift store in which we sell used books as well as anything else thats donated and all the proceeds are used to assist those in need. Now that I’ve gotten hooked on your books I can’t help myself, each time I have a customer that’s an avid reader I have to tell them about
your books. I’ve recommended them so often I now keep a printed flyer at the check out desk
giving them all the information on your book list. There is never a week that goes by without at least one of those reciepents coming in asking if I know when to expect another Charles Martin publication.
I just wish you could write faster. Can’t wait for the next one and hope there will be lots more in the future.

I am the wife of a doctor and pilot so as soon as I finished reading Mountain this week I passed it on to him. We are both 80 and are lifetime readers. I’ve read all of your books but Mountain is no doubt my favorite..and what an ending! The Lord has truly gifted you, Charles.
Charles Martin, what an awesome young man you are! Tonight I watched the “sex” video and the one about your future books. I was delighted to watch you on video for you show what I perceive you to truly be like. I have loved all of your books and eagerly await the next one. I live in St. Augustine so I recognize many places your books describe. And I recognize your heart and soul are in your books, your family and in the Lord. How wonderful to be able to read books that are wonderful and wholesome and not filled with trash. May you continue to be blessed as an author, as a husband, and as a father.
Thanks so much for the up date. We have been wondering and anticipating the next one. We will try to wait patiently for it :) My husband is now hooked on your books too and is starting to read through them all. I love how you seem to draw us into each book, each character and their story which then some how becomes a part of us and our story. I usually like to slow myself down and savor each word not wanting to get to the end too fast and have to leave all the characters. I am rereading a couple for this summer while I wait. Hi! I just recently started reading your books and have loved every one of them. Obviously some more than others...but I love ‘em all! Actually, I just minutes ago finished one (and have 3 more waiting for me to start) and that is why I came to your site, to leave you some positive feedback. It’s great to know that not every book published is full of mindless junk. I can’t sing you enough praises for the work you put on paper! You were blessed with a gift and I am glad you choose to use it in such an inspiring way!
Appreciate videos as they provide other facets of you and your thought process. Please continue with videos on occasion to update us on your current activities. I have read all your books and have recently started over with “The Dead Don’t Dance.” Looking forward to “Thunder and Rain” as sounds like another great read. Thanks for all your hard work and many hours in getting your books into print, your books have touched my life and changed me for the better as a husband, dad, and person.

I have been wondering, knowing that it has been a year since “Mountain” came out...and even though I am sad to know it will be a year, I am glad to at least know that it IS coming and when to expect it! I really enjoyed the video...GREAT idea! I met you in Oxford when you were touring for Where the River Ends....the video is especially great for those who may not have to opportunity to meet you. Thank you so much for continuing to write and pushing to get your books published. As much as I read, only a few have a home on my shelves...and all of yours are there.

Dear Charles,
I’ve read nearly all of your books and will be heading to the local library in just a few minutes to get another. (The librarian ordered several titles based solely on the fact that I couldn’t praise them enough last time I stopped in.) I’ve taken to putting bookmarks in the pages containing quotes that I love, then when finished I email a select group of friends with a book review and the quotes. Hopefully my friends will learn and grow right along with me by reading your words of wisdom.
This is a portion of an email my neighbor sent to me recently after recommending When Crickets Cry to her (By the way, she is just finishing up chemo. for breast cancer.):

I really like your sharing through the video, it seemed as if you were in my living room or I yours. So keep it up. Also, it seems a lot easier for you and I appreciate your candor.
I will pray that The Mountain Between Us turns into a movie and that they will keep it pure. I believe that it’s the best novel I have ever read and I’m 69 yrs old. You are a sensitive, caring writer and your characters show that you know them well!

Having read ALL of your books thus far, and anxiously awaiting the 2012 release, I want you to know how much your writing touches me. Your characters aren’t afraid to admit their weaknesses, and in doing so, they reveal their strengths. Your plots aren’t predictable.....because they reflect the waywardness of everday life. You reach way down to the heart of hearts. I can’t thank you enough for taking the time and the risk that is necessary to write such meaningful stories. Please don’t stop.

I have always been an avid reader. After retiring last year, I finally had the time to read more good books. I hit the library—and discovered your books! I had to purchase several in order for the library to have all of your books. Now, everyone in our small town has the opportunity to read fine, Christian books. Thank you! Oh, forgot—Really love the video approach. You come across very well. Sincere. Honest. Schedule those on a regular basis—at least one every month or two. Much better than just words on the blog for those of us who are more visual.
