My Next Book
Posted in Book Research on Wed, April 22, 2009
In my latest book, (due out Spring of next year) I’ve crashed a small plane in the mountains of Utah. A rather remote place called the Uintas. Leaving two strangers stranded. More about that later.
Last week, I and two friends flew out there for some ‘research.’ Take a look.
Na-uh! No way, Mr. Martin! Spring 2010? That’s an entire year from now. I just re-read WCC and plan to re-read the others, but that could take me, what? the next month and then what? Wait a whole year for more of the best of the best? Oh, alright. If you insist. I’ll busy myself by reading fluff and other supposedly wonderful works and wait, and wait, and wait. And wait. No, seriously. I can’t wait. Nope, I don’t think so. Hmm...I wonder how many times I could re-read WCC, WIR, WTRE, CF, M and TDDD over the course of the next year? lol I’d say about 12 times each. lol
No, seriously, I can’t wait to read this Utah adventure. My DH and DD and I had our own Utah adventure this past fall on the way to Disneyland. Thankfully it didn’t involve a plane crash or any massive amounts of snow. I might just have to borrow your location idea and include parts of our Utah adventure in the novel I’m writing. At the rate I’m writing it (the novel), I estimate that I’ll be finished by 2056. :)
I was in a plane crash!! It was AWESOME!! Strange, huh? Love your books!! I have read all but one.
Yuck!!! Next spring… it is sooo far away!!! I don’t know that I can wait that long!!!!! LOL
My husband and I met you in Brunswick GA last Oct - he is in the military (currently in Afghanistan) and he said to ask you if you have given any more thoughts to the post traumatic stress angle of a story???
Finish it and Release it now!!! Please!
Really now, your books are like truly fine dining! Do I really have to wait till next year to get my next decent meal?--Your books are the best, they occupy the place of honor in my library! Can’t wait till next year!
Charles I thought your plans last summer included a book based on your research in the NC mountains?
What happened to those plans? Is that on hold till you finish the one about the Utah plane crash? Have you decided to branch out from your southeastern locations for more national appeal? I hate to wait a year, but I guess I must. You won’t fault me for praying for lots of inspiration and multiplied time so you finish early will you?
I am waiting with patience for your next book. I have read all of your books and it has been almost a year since I read the last one. I am so looking forward to the next one. I know it will be as good as the other ones.
Nancy, now living in JAX, FL...was in Brunswick, GA
Ghastly, wait, almost a whole year. I suppose - it will be alright; seems :} you’re awful slow to “do YOUR research”...just write it ...already! My taste buds - for a “good-read” need to be tantalized. I brag about your books all the time; I share my copy with those, I know will “return” the book to our evolving library. Thanks for following “the pursuit to write\”; Utah, plane crash, can’t wait.—Hurry-up.....when you can, though. Best, ((:O)
Is it released yet? I cannot wait!
I can’t wait for the new book to get on the shelves. I started reading, “When Crickets Cry” early in the spring on the advise of a co-worker. It was great! So then I got “The Dead Don’t Dance” and of course “Maggie” next. I have just finished “Wrapped in Rain.” For me to read 4 books during 1 calendar year is a new record in my adult life. I like to read when I find something good. I love the Christian tones like Mama Ella’s voice in Tuck’s head. Thanks and keep writing.
A friend at work told me about “When Crickets Cry” and I just couldn’t put it down. Since then I have read all the rest, and I have recommended them to so many other friends. I am glad that another is in the works, I will find it hard to wait but at least I know that there will be more. Thank you!!!
Charles....hurry ~ I read ALL of your books in about a 6 month period of time. I found about you from my sister who was one of your sisters classmates up at Regent. I love your style and the pictures you are able to paint. I love how you always have a tidbit of reality (i.e. your sons name...bandaid) in your works as well. Please post somewhere on your website the ETA of your new novel....that way we cal all mark it on our calendars and count the days. Judy Durham/Ocala Florida
I know good things are worth waiting for but I really need another good Charles Martin read. ......like before next spring........sigh.......You are my new favorite author.
Great news here, Charles! So excited and patiently waiting!
Who do I contact about a book signing event?? I would sooo love to have you at our new Shop in Orange Park!
I just finished “Where the River Ends”. It was awesome. No bad language. I just could not put it down. Thank you.
Can’t wait to read it. I have read all of your books and love them. Every time we cross the St. Mary’s River I remember scenes from Where the River Ends. We go from Florida to North Carolina at least twice a year.
Good luck as you finish your book and God Bless you andd your family.
